I am not a graduate from a bachelors programme as of yet. Do I get the chance to apply?
Yes, you can apply. But if you are accepted to the programme, you are obliged to submit the relevant document in the registration period, that proves you are a graduate.
When does the application period start for the graduate programmes?
2018 – 2019 fall term application period is between 15 January 2018 – 16 February 2018 .
What is the education language in graduate programs?
There are graduate programmes both in English and in Turkish. You can get detailed information about the education programmes by visiting PROGRAMS page.
I haven’t graduated yet, so I don’t have a grade point average (GPA). Which grade average will be taken into account during evaluation process?
The latest cumulative grade point average (CGPA) will be taken into account which the applicant submitted during the application process. For the applicants who are not graduated from a bachelors programme during application, the cumulative grade point average of the first 7 semesters in universities having semester based education and the cumulative grade point of the first 3 years in universities having yearly based education, are taken into consideration.
I graduated from an open university program. Can I apply?
Yes, you can.
Is there evening or distance education in graduate programmes?
Our institute is based on formal education. So there are no evening or distance learning programmes.
Can I apply with a missing document?
No, you can not. You have to submit all of the required documents to successfully complete your application.
Should the program I am willing to apply be the same with the programme I have a bachelor’s degree?
Some programs (International and Comparative Law, Clinical Psychology and Counselling and Psychological Counselling) require the applications of candidates from certain fields. You should check the prerequisites for the programmes you are willing to apply.
Is foreign language a prerequisite to apply to graduate programmes?
Each programme have different level of language proficiency, so applicants should visit the web pages of each programme.
Is it compulsory to attent to classes in graduate programmes?
Students have to attend 80 percent the courses.
I do not have an ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Exam) certificate. Can I apply for programmes with thesis? Is there conditional acceptance?
You must have an ALES certificate to apply for programmes with thesis. There is no conditional acceptance.
Am I allowed to participate to graduate programmes as a special student?
Applications for special students are not accepted.
How should the reference letters be written?
Reference letters should be written by academicians. You should send your referance letter to firstname.lastname@example.org or submit it in a sealed envelope with signature to Social Sciences Institute until the last application date.
In which language the curriculum vitae and the letter of intent be written?
These documents should be written in English or in Turkish.
Can I apply for two graduate programs at the same time?
You can apply up to 3 different programs at the same time.
I am a senior student and I do not have my last term transcript. Does that cause a problem for application?
You can send your current transcript. You can submit your transcript of the last semester during enrolment.
Do I need ALES grade to apply for a graduate programme?
ALES is needed for programmes with thesis. Turkish citizens must have an ALES grade to apply for graduate programmes with thesis.
Do I need ALES grade to apply for a graduate programme without thesis?
ALES grade is not compulsory for graduate programmes without thesis.
How long the ALES grades are valid?
It is valid for the next 3 years starting from the exam date.
How long YDS / E-YDS / YÖKDİL test results are valid?
These results are valid for the next 5 years starting from the exam date.
Written Exam and Interview
How do I get information about written exam and interview dates?
After the application is completed, Graduate School of Social Sciences will inform the candidates about the dates.
How does the interview take place?
The interview takes place with the participation of three professors from the programme which the candidate has applied for.
How do the applications for the graduate programme evaluated?
An evaluation commitee consisting of at least three academics from the relevant programme is formed by the Institute Board. The commitee ranks the candidates with valid applications and proposes the names of the most succesful applicants to the Institute Management Board.
Should I make any other application for scholarship?
No. Your application is evaluated according to the available scholarship. You will be informed by the acceptance letter about the kind of scholarship that is offered.
Do you have graduate programmes in English in the university?
Yes there are graduate programmes in English. You can visit the PROGRAMS page to find out which programmes are in English.
Which language proficiency tests are accepted for graduate programmes?
YDS / E-YDS / YÖKDİL , TOEFL, Pearson Versant Test are accepted for the graduate programmes that are in English. YDS proficiency test for Arabic and TÖMER test for Turkish are also accepted.
I do not have proficiency certificates mentioned above. Can I still apply?
Yes you can apply. However candidates with no proficiency certificates mentioned above should take the language proficiency test organized by Ibn Haldun University.
Does the proficiency test organized by Ibn Haldun University requires a fee?

I graduated from a university which gives education in English. Should I also need to provide language proficiency document?
Even if you are graduated from a university which gives education in English, you need to provide one of the TOEFL, YDS / YÖKDİL / E-YDS or Ibn Haldun University language proficiency documents.
I have IELTS document. Am I exempt from language proficiency?
Unfortunately no. Since the Council of Higher Education of Turkey no more recognizes it, you need to provide one of the TOEFL, YDS / YÖKDİL / E-YDS documents or take the test of Ibn Haldun University for language proficiency.
I did not take tests like YDS, TOEFL or etc. I did not take the language proficiency test that Ibn Haldun University organized as well. Do I get acceptance in condition of submitting the relevant language proficiency document in the future?
No. If language proficiency document is missing, the application of the student is not sent to the programme for evaluation. The application will not be valid due to missing document. An evaluation in condition of submitting a relevant language proficiency document in the future is not accepted as well.
How long YDS / E-YDS / YÖKDİL test results are valid?
The results are valid for 5 years starting from the exam date.
What kind of scholarships does Ibn Haldun University provide?

What are the criterias of receiving scholarships and discounts?
Scholarships and discounts are awarded according to the results of the written exam and/or the interview and the evaluation of the documents that the applicant provided during application process.
How long the scholarship and the discount are valid?
The scholarships or discounts that the candidate is awarded will be valid during the education process. The period of a graduate programme with thesis is 4 semesters.
Can I work outside the university as a scholarship student?
That depends on the decision of the management of the selected graduate programme.
If I fail, does the scholarship programme ends?
